Show Us Your Stuff September Challenge!

Mid-month reveal time at Show Us Your Stuff, and it's time to share my take on this month's gorgeous Spring themed mood board...

I found lots to inspire me - the soft pastel colours, the flowers, the hearts...

{Papers by Websters Pages; Teresa Collins and Basic Grey. Frame from My Minds Eye.}

As soon as I saw these papers by Websters Pages, I knew they would be perfect for this challenge! I even managed to scrap a photo I had long been hoarding (as full family photos are very rare around here!)

Here are some close-ups...
{Ivory silk heirloom flower & flair button from D-lish Scraps; pin from A little bit fANTsy}

{Acrylic heart by Heidi Swapp; flowers from D-lish Scraps}

{Wood bit from Flutterby Designs}

{Photo cut out tab from Flutterby Designs}

I hope that everyone has a chance to play along with this month's challenge and share their take on this stunning board. There are plenty of elements to draw from, so something for everyone! Until next time, happy scrapping! X

Off the Rails September Challenge!

Back again with another challenge share for you, this time it's for the Off the Rails September challenge, which is a gorgeous mood palette designed by Fiona Paltridge.
Here is the palette...

And here is my take on it...

{Papers by Graphic 45 & Teresa Collins; Alphas by American Crafts
Published Scrapbooking Memories - Vol 17 No 12}

I was inspired by a number of elements from this palette. I love that it had me create this layout using a colour combo I would not necessarily have used otherwise. I was also drawn to the gold glitter, and incorporated that by die cutting some shapes from gold glittered cardstock - including feathers, another featured element of the palette.

{Dies & cardstock both by American Crafts; assorted flowers from D-lish Scraps}

I also created my own custom glittery gold background using a stencil, texture paste and loose glitter. I simply sprinkled the glitter onto the texture paste whilst still wet, then shook off the excess once dry.

{Flair button from D-lish Scraps}

{Prima feature bloom from Wild About Scrap; gold butterfly coming soon to Lovelybug bits n Bobs!}

The final element I took inspiration from was the theme of the palette and the quote "free yourself". I put my spin on it by using these pics of my daughter behind a wire fence, and some personal journaling to her about how I hope she is always free to be herself. (I used a gold gel pen for my journaling, so it doesn't overshadow the layout composition, but still fits the colour scheme.)

I do hope you will try this beautiful palette, and I hope you find it as inspiring as I did! Don't forget to link your layouts up to the Off the Rails blog HERE before the end of the month. Happy scrapping! X

Scrap the Boys September Challenge!

Wow - September! We are definitely heading into the pointy end of the year now!
This month's challenge at Scrap the Boys is all about 'Domesticated Boys' (think washing, cooking, cleaning, ironing, etc).

When I saw the prompt for this challenge I immediately thought of a video I took of my boys using the vacuum a few months ago. I didn't take any still photos though, so I decided to grab a few snapshots from the video and create a collage with them.

Here is my layout...

{Papers by Echo Park; Basic Grey; Glitz Designs and Becky Higgins Project Life cards.
Alphas by American Crafts.}
Published in Scrapbooking Memories magazine Vol 18 No 2

Taking inspiration from the awesome Kim Jeffress here, I decided to create an interactive element for my layout by including QR codes for 2 of the videos I took that day. This way, when I look back at the layout, I can simply scan the code with my phone and be taken straight to the videos. I put them onto this PL card which pulls out from behind my photos...

A few more details...

{Adore this little printed peg by Amy Tan for American Crafts; wood bit from Flutterby Designs}

{How gorgeous are these paper straws? Hoping to have these up in the Lovelybug Bits n Bobs store soon!}

{This title was probably a little inspired by the 80's child in me...hehe}

Looking forward to seeing YOUR take on the STB challenge this month! Don't forget you can scrap any "boy" in your life, not just the little ones! (So don't forget to capture that rare photo of hubby washing the dishes or cooking, and record the memory forever! hehe) Your take on the challenge could win you a fabulous prize from Scrapbooking Delights; Scrapmatts or Flutterby Designs! (Yes, that's THREE prizes on offer!)

Thanks for stopping by, and for everyone who takes the time to leave me a comment. Your feedback is really appreciated and I always aim to repay the favour by hitting up your blog to leave you some love. (So don't forget to comment if you want me to visit YOU!) X
